We are passionate about promoting education in the developing world. We start our story in Vea, a rural village in Ghana, where our organization gets its name. We hope the changes we bring to this small community will be the beginning of what we can achieve not only in Africa but worldwide.
The Need: Less than one percent of the population of Vea, Ghana has access to electricity. There is no running water. There is no internet. Walking is the most common form of travel. The lack of fundamental needs illustrates how access to infrastructure is a huge factor in raising the standard of living in rural communities. This deep poverty puts the children of Vea and other similar communities at a distinct educational disadvantage. It is The Maalgo Project’s goal to build the educational infrastructure and bring these rural communities the

resources they need to succeed. Our Aim: to educate children in developing countries and offer them a way out of the cycle of poverty.
In an effort to intervene in the cycle of poverty, The Maalgo Project aims to make education accessible to rural communities and to provide the resources necessary to raise the standard of learning in the more remote regions of the globe. Sustainable learning facilities, teacher training programs and after school programs are implemented on a local level by the community, so that access to education will not be a factor by which the poor remain poor.
To provide impoverished communities with the tools necessary to raise their standard of education.
To bring learning facilities, teacher training programs and after school programs to rural areas where education may not be accessible.
To incorporate community leaders with our mission and programs so that each community plays a key role in program development.
